How to spend 30 years in real estate and still have the enthusiasm to keep going in today’s market?
Woody Presley's enthusiasm comes from his early years in the Western Michigan area. Growing up in a family of college and elementary educators had embedded something in him… a dedication to his chosen profession and a desire to help others. Not wanting to exactly follow family tradition and become a teacher, Woody set his sights on educating buyers and sellers of real estate by listening to their wants, needs and desires and helping them successfully achieve their goal.
Originally licensed in 1977, due to pressure from his Great Aunt to enter the profession and assist her in her busy Clinton, MI office, Woody learned how to sell real estate without the assistance of the MLS, fax machines, computers, cell phones, and learned the true significance of helping customers and clients with their residential needs.
Upon returning to Spring Lake and West Michigan to pursue a Bachelors degree from Grand Valley State University, Woody established himself in the Grand Rapids/Grand Haven real estate market. It was there that Woody was hired to manage two offices for a large Century 21 franchise. With it, came a desire to further his knowledge of real estate and decided it was time to obtain the long overdue Brokers License (2001). It was during this time that he also obtained the GRI® (Graduate Real Estate Institute), and ABR® (Accredited Buyers Representative) designations.
Sensing a need to expand his professional career even further, Woody set his sights on Chicago and the opportunities the great city had to offer. Since he was driving to the city nearly every weekend for 1.5 years, Woody decided to make Chicago and the Gold Coast neighborhood his new home base and bring his extensive residential sales experience and knowledge to a new level. Woody officially moved to Chicago in 2004, obtained his Illinois Brokers License, and was immediately hired by American Invsco to manage the River City Condominiums sales office. He then transferred to Rizzo Realty Group to market developments in Chicago, Arizona, Nevada, and Florida, and learned the ins and outs of development sales and educating investors on building wealth through their real estate portfolio. It was also during this time that he realized he missed general brokerage and the true enjoyment of helping buyers and sellers make one of the most important decisions in their lives. Woody decided to team up with Prudential Preferred Properties in the Gold Coast/Lincoln Park office and joined a spectacular team of professionals.
