Gracious homes on tree-lined streets, cultural and recreational activities, and a number of highly acclaimed colleges and universities all reflect the rich essence of this well-established community.
Transportation
Commuter trains reach Chicago’s Loop in 21 minutes. Four CTA bus lines connect Evanston to the city and nearby suburbs. The Edens Expressway (I-94) is just west of town. Sheridan Road, which runs parallel to the Lake, becomes Lake Shore Drive as you head south to the city.

Evanston Township High School, District 202, provides an accelerated studies program in conjunction with Northwestern University, the Big Ten university located in the heart of town. A variety of private elementary schools offer an alternative to public schooling.

Recreation
Five community centers and two indoor ice rinks offer residents year-round activity. Two miles of Evanston’s shoreline are incorporated into beaches and parks. Grosse Point Lighthouse functions as a museum, nature center, and maritime complex. The community also offers its residents five museums, a number of art galleries and a symphony orchestra.
